Redemption Leather Site Redesigned

One of my projects for my UCD course called for redesigning a website with bad navigation. I chose Redemption Leather's site.
I redesigned the whole Information Architecture and created a new sitemap. The navigation system, page titles, types of menus etc. were all based on numerous user testing, including usability tests.

The picture above shows the home page of the website, and the picture on the left is my design. While the current page shows the shop's outside, it does not focus well on the shoes, the actual product. My design showcases the shoes much more and makes potential customers eager to explore the site further. Also in the current design the menu is vertical, which is quite strange, I changed it to a horizontal menu, and added category links in the content on the page, for easier navigation.

The bottom left picture shows the other photo in the photo gallery on the home page, this one being a link to the sale section.

The website doesn't have an effective filter or category system, you can either search for a specific product, or you have to look through all the Ladies shoes, if you are browsing for Ladies shoes, for example. There are no categories within each of the main categories of products.
It was essential to my design to sort the shoes into secondary categories, that could be browsed separately and filtered, based on the user's preferences.

I also made it possible to change the shoe colour when viewing it, instead of having a same style shoes in each color in the categories.
