A bit more about me...
Hi there! I'm Claudi Lourens, owner of Claudi Lourens Creative Studio, an art and design studio.
I live in South Africa on a beautiful farm, which offers me so much inspiration. God’s creation is my greatest inspiration! I love painting florals and also especially birds.
My love for birds started at a young age, sparked with trips to the Kruger National Park. Eventually I started taking birding more seriously, and even did Zoology in school, focusing specifically on birds. And as you might have guessed, I also drew birds with pencil as a child (the sketches weren’t that great 😂 ). Later I started doing bird photography, which I still do.
While I enjoy painting many different things, birds remain my absolute favourite! I think this is because of the connection and intrigue I’ve had for them since a young age.
Birds and their complex design still continue to amaze me, and with over 800 species of birds in South Africa, I think I’ll still be painting them for a long time!
My style incorporates clean backgrounds with detailed subjects. I prefer to work with watercolours because of it's simple yet, perfect nature. It allows me to add the smallest details to paintings to make it more realistic. I also like the light and shadows that can be created because of watercolour's transparency.
My artwork is featured on useful stationery products and unique gifts, which can be found in various shops in South Africa as well as my online store. These products and collections are proudly manufactured in South Africa, inspired by nature and designed to bring Africa’s Natural Beauty into your space!
I love partnering with small brands, that want to add beauty to the world, by helping them to stand out with beautiful logos, perfectly designed stationery and eye catching patterns to use on their products! My experience with UX design enables me to make the design process as smooth as possible whether it’s a logo, personalized stationery, a website, custom illustrations or surface pattern designs!
Whenever I'm not busy turning my hobbies into a side hustle, you'll find me dreaming about the colours of paint, reading, doing hand lettering, creating art in my Bible or doing photography.
I believe creativity is a talent we are called to develop so I strive to do everything with the excellence that is required of me by Colossians 3:23.
