Music Player App Design

Music Player App UX Design by Claudi Lourens

This was an independent research project that I completed for my UCD course.  The task was to create a music player app.  A name and logo had to be made for the app, before the app design itself could begin.

The name Trutune was derived from the idea that the app has music with very high sound quality, thus you hear the 'true' music.  The idea of the app was to put the music on the center stage, instead of the app itself, this can be seen by the simple design.

The feeling that the app gives is that of being sophisticated, high quality and professional.

I wanted the design to be clean and focus on the music itself, to accomplish that I made the interface white, as it's more simple and neutral.  Also most other music apps have a black interface.

The app functions like most other music apps and have all the essential features.  The functions and overall design was tested with users multiple times, through usability tests and A/B tests, to come up with the final prototype.

Through the usability tests, it was established that adding a 'night mode' to the app would be beneficial too many of it's users, especially the younger audience.  Based on this insight I added a switch to the account section of the app, where the user can switch between a light and dark mode anytime.
